Dear American Voters,
On Tuesday, August 6, we go to the polls, not for a general election but for the primary elections. Before you begin voting, think carefully about the nation we have been for 200+ years and the nation we hope to be for another 200+ years.
What has worked? The U.S. Constitution is the law of the land, and it has survived internal and external conflicts. Why? We are a law-abiding nation. We are a nation of states working together, yet independently, too.
As I review the published ballot before the state’s primary election, I see division. I see multiple candidates from the same party making the same claims, the same endorsements, the same divisive issues. I do not see anyone putting the concerns of the state ahead of one individual’s personal agenda.
As a voter, I cannot watch the ads without realizing that only one candidate is focusing on this state’s own issues rather than the issues laid out by one individual who is not a state citizen.
Neither do I feel the ads were made for the individual candidate for his/her own campaign—they look like they were ‘canned’ ads designed to edit in a candidate if he/she follows the script that goes with it. Which candidate among the nine candidates for governor is really speaking for the traditional Republican platform in the interest of the state?
Divisive ads represent divisive leadership. I do not believe that any party dependent on one individual really represents the diversity of the voters. I cannot vote for any candidate that cannot demonstrate a cohesive mindset that truly places the citizens before self.
Sadly, the candidates are all falling into a mindless “follow-the-leader” pattern that is failing to preserve the individual rights, local community uniqueness, and/or the state’s individual composition. Instead, it is follow-the-leader into one pattern, one mindset, one personal agenda—power.
Therefore, Voters, before you walk into that polling site, before you cast one vote, look carefully at the candidates. Who is an independent thinker? Who is putting service before power? Who can work with other points of view to reach a reasonable compromise in the best interest of the populace?
Remember, this is a primary election. It is not the general election in which only one candidate is voted into office for one term. This election sets the various parties’ ballots for the general election in November.
Use this weekend to closely evaluate which party ballot you are going to use.
Use this weekend to study the actual biographies of the candidates and their work record.
Which candidate is strong as an individual and not just “following the leader.”
Which candidate follows the party‘s platform for a united country not one’s personal platform under the guise of a party’s label?
And then on Tuesday, August 6, turn out to vote! Each American citizen who is eligible to vote, has a responsibility to stand up and vote. If you do not vote, complain only to yourself.
